About Latifa

Latifa's credentials are impeccable: she studied dance for over ten years with the best of the best, the late Ibrahim Farrah of New York City, and recently completed a Master's degree in Arab Studies from Georgetown University. Latifa has performed in Manhattan nightclubs and has studied with the top teachers in the United States, Egypt, and Tunisia. She is past President of the Washington Area Mid East Dance Association (WAMEDA). Her professional-level troupe, Banat al-Beled, is a favorite of audiences in the Baltimore-Washington area.

As an instructor, Latifa is generous in sharing her knowledge of dance movement, performance technique, and expression, set within the context of Middle Eastern and American culture and taught in a way that makes it fun.
